Bedwyr Williams

Bedwyr Williams ’ practice encompasses a diverse range of mediums from performance to sculpture to painting to video, often resulting in dreamlike immersive installations. Williams draws on the banalities and idiosyncrasies of his own life and the world around him. The tales he recounts range from the fantastical and absurd to the mind-numbingly ordinary; we are invited to share his curiosity, awkwardness, anger, embarrassment, delight and confusion in the world as we are drawn into the compelling scenarios he conjures. His wry humour often questions cultural snobbery and elevates minute neuroses to a monumental scale.

He has had solo shows at Barbican Curve Gallery in London, Limoncello in London, The Whitworth in Manchester, VISUAL in Carlow, g39 in Cardiff, Vestjyllands Kunstpavillion, in Videbæk, Tramway in Glasgow, the Welsh Pavilion for 55th Venice Biennale, IKON in Birmingham, and Kunstverein Salzburger.
