Betty Woodman

Ceramicist Betty Woodman is celebrated for her sophisticated understanding and interpretation of the vase, an art form with a long history in art. Woodman has traveled the world, drawing inspiration from many cultures and ages to reinterpret the vessel. "The container is a symbol," explains Woodman, "it holds and pours all fluids, stores food and contains everything from flowers to our final remains." From her large abstract sculptures to her pillow pitchers to her woodcuts, Woodman's work glides flawlessly between form, function, and art.
