Boy & Erik Stappaerts

Boy & Erik Stappaerts' work focuses on the research of various sociological, political, and emotional identities and entities that are being translated into labels and conceptualised into an abstract image. Fascinated by colour and its meaning, Stappaerts has developed a computer programme together with Kris Janssen which can mathematically construct color transitions in polarisation format. He uses this programme to abstract the political and sociological systems of our everyday life to colour guides and labels and position them in a structural timeframe.

Stappaerts has had solo exhibitions at Gallery Ronny Van de Velde in Knokke and Antwerp, McBride Gallery in Antwerp, GalleryTachéLèvy in Brussels, Gallery Aurel Scheibler in Köln, Gallery Annick Ketele in Antwerp, among other venues. His work has been included in group exhibitions at institutions such as Parasol Unit in London, The Baker Museum in Naples, Rotterdam’s Kunsthal, National Art Museum of China in Bejing, and Rijksakademie in Amsterdam.
