Caitlyn Murphy

Caitlyn Murphy's gouache paintings favor slightly odd and off-centered compositions that showcase a unique style of realism. She prefers overlooked, quiet moments as her subject matter, reducing them to their simplest forms. Taking inspiration from the historic tradition of still-life painting as well as consumerism, Murphy makes paintings that highlight the immediacy of daily existence through layers of color and light.

Murphy’s solo exhibitions include No Foundation and Northern Contemporary in Toronto. She has also participated in group exhibitions at Harbourfront Centre, Northern Contemporary, and Black Cat galleries in Toronto.
