About The Work
Pierre Restany is the influential French art critic, theorist and writer who became close to Yves Klein and is credited with coining (and/or promulgating) the term IKB. Restany also famously coined the term "Nouveau Realisme" to describe the European answer to the American Neo-Dada of Fluxus and Pop Art. The group originally included artists Martial Raysse, Arman, Yves Klein, François Dufrene, Raymond Hains, Daniel Spoerri, Jean Tinguely, Jacques Villeglé - but Niki de Saint Phalle (Tinguely's wife) and, significantly, Christo himself would later join this group. Hence the historical value of this signed 1966 Christo poster, from the legendary Leo Castelli Gallery in New York, to Pierre Restany in Paris can not be underestimated.
