Delirious: Art at the Limits of Reason

Delirious: Art at the Limits of Reason COLLECT THE ARTISTS FROM THE MET BREUER'S NEW EXHIBITION

"Delirious: Art at the Limits of Reason" opened at the Met Breuer on September 13. According to the press release:

"The decades between 1950 and 1980 were beset by upheaval. Military conflict proliferated, while social and political unrest flared around the globe. Among artists, writers, critics, and philosophers, a growing disenchantment with what was perceived as an oppressive rationalism was matched by a mounting interest in fantastic, hallucinatory experiences. Together these developments gave rise to delirious forms of art."

Here, collect some of the artists with work in this fascinating survey exhibition—like Yayoi Kusama, Sol LeWitt, Nancy Spero, Paul Thek, Claes Oldenburg, Alfred Jenson, Peter Saul, Bruce Nauman, and Philip Guston—along with additional artists with Surrealist influences that make us feel a little delirious ourselves.
