COLLECT THE ARTISTS RESPONSIBLE FOR LOS ANGELES' RED-HOT ART SCENE

Los Angeles didn't just become one of the world's most preeminent art cities. Artists like John Baldessari, Ed Ruscha, and Catherine Opie have been making art on the West Coast for decades. But there's no denying that the city of angles is enjoying an art-world renaissance: A few years ago The Broad museum opened in downtown L.A.; Frieze will now have an annual art fair in the city; and galleries like Tanya Bonakdar, Matthew Marks, Hauser & Wirth, and Sprüth Magers have recently expanded—or will soon expand—to the sunny city. And of course, museums like The Hammer, LACMA, The Getty, and the MCA have already laid the groundwork. Artspace hosts a healthy volume of Los Angeles-based artists—from those that helped define the city's art scene back in the day, to the current up-and-coming artists keeping the scene alive. Collect them all here on Artspace.
