Dave Cole was raised on his family’s farm in New Hampshire, and grew up working in his grandfather’s blacksmith shop. As a sculptor, Cole has become known for his large-scale work and his unconventional uses of industrial machines and materials. His installation work especially is known for its ability to successfully engage diverse audiences with conceptually challenging contemporary art.


Cole has exhibited nationally and internationally including museum shows at Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington DC, Museum of Arts And Design in New York, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MASS MoCA in North Adams, DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, Aldrich Museum in Ridgefield, Norwegian National Museum in Oslo, Haifa Museum of Art, and National Museum of the Netherlands in Amsterdam.
