David Delruelle

Brussels-based artist David Delruelle composes highly emotional, surreal collages which explore the inner turmoil of humanity and creates a mish-mash of realms that gets us rethinking the images we see daily. He creates works which touch upon several themes, and that fundamentally contribute to a general reflection on the art of collage itself, imagining of the interplay between direct opposites. David likes to present elements which may seem discordant at first, but whose coupling paradoxically generates a sense of coherence, often tinged by humor or irony – as hinted at by the titles he gives to his pieces. This practice allows him to depict intimacy from a distance and question our relationship to the world.
