Dayanita Singh

The extensive oeuvre of artist and photographer Dayanita Singh highlights her interest in archive, sequence and poetic narrative. Her use of the photographic image reflects the relationship between her art form and the art historical canon, incorporating various processes and presentations. Over the course of her career Singh has published twelve books corresponding to different projects, Zakir Hussain (1986), Myself, Mona Ahmed (2001), Privacy (2003), Chairs (2005), Go Away Closer (2007), Sent A Letter (2008), Blue Book (2009), Dream Villa (2010), Dayanita Singh (2010), House of Love (2011), File Room (2013), and Museum of Chance (2014).


She has shown her work in a number of international institutions including Museum Für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt, Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston, Museum of Modern Art, Bogota and Frith Street Gallery, London. Her work was exhibited at the 2011 and 2013 Venice Biennale, and in 2014 received a Chevalier dans l' Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
