Ed Panar

American photographer Ed Panar takes color photographs with a sense of humor. Panar is perhaps best known for his book “Animals That Saw Me,” which, as the title suggests, is a series of portraits of various animals looking at the camera. Human subjects are rare in Panar’s work, which tends to concentrate on abstract patterns and textures found in the built environment.

Panar’s works have been exhibited at Silver Eye Center for Photographer in Pittsburgh, ICP Triennial in New York, Tiger Strikes Asteroid in Philadelphia, Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago. He’s published five photo books and is the recipient of Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Fellowship, and the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council Artists Opportunity Grant.
