About The Work
The Rose Drape by Eleanor Aldrich utilizes a thick caulk on top of the canvas as an underlayment, creating a grid texture. The main focus of the piece is an image of a woman, with long blond hair falling on half of her face. She’s wearing a white bonnet or a hoodie and is wrapped around with a red cloth, the eponymous rose drape. In the center of the painting, we recognize a bouquet of roses. On the right, in the background, we see a window, most likely where the drape is pulled from. The image is warped with rays of color, mainly in a red hue, seemingly bursting from the rose bouquet, giving the piece an abstract manner.
The Rose Drape was featured as part of a two-person exhibition with Pamela Jorden at the Channel To Channel Gallery.
