    About The Work

    From a worm’s-eye view, the camera looks upward at the feet of a child seated on top of a refrigerator in a typical American kitchen. The child is poised over a mound of stuffed animals and dolls. This 2006 digital c-print, The Pile, by Elizabeth Pedinotti is from her series The Space Between Hours, and in it, action is paused as the protagonist (here, the child) is largely occluded, outside of the image’s frame. The subtle color and hypnagogic composition provides narrative hints, but much of the information is conveyed sensually through its evocation of strong feelings or memories.
