Photographer Michael Massaia’s exhibition Try and Remember features images that are a reckoning with memory. By creating a feeling of intimacy between photographer and subject, Massaia asks us to remember a past that has been irrevocably changed by the passage of time. Whether a portrait of a phone booth or pinball machine, a vacant hotel, or a deserted path in Central Park, Massaia breaths life and light into the dark and inanimate. The luminous nature of silver gelatin prints is paired perfectly with each of his subjects. A master of the science and craft of photography, Massaia's prints are meticulous and cinematic, drawing the viewer into  a cinematic narrative.
