    About The Work

Richter's idea of style is the enjoyment of no style at all. "I like everything that has no style," he says, "dictionaries, photographs, nature, myself and my paintings. Because style is violent, and I am not violent." His abstract paintings, to him, are a result of a blind, desperate effort to create something that lacks a name but is, ultimately, something meaningful.
