    About The Work

Jenny Holzer famed series of "Truisms" makes use of short maxims sometimes serious, sometimes ironic that the artists appropriates to comment on contemporary culture. Holzer presents these contemplative texts on scrolling LED screens—Truism 1 is particularly noteworthy, however, on account of its small, confining screen. As opposed to her monumental public LED installations, Truism 1, which features Holzer’s musings from 1983 to 1991, conveys the messages one letter at a time.
