About The Work
This beautiful limited edition lithograph by legendary American Abstract Expressionist painter Joan Mitchell was published in 1972 as part of the Fresh Air School portfolio, which also included works by Sam Francis and Walasse Ting. In 1972, the Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania exhibited paintings of Sam Francis, Joan Mitchell and Walasse Ting together in a show entitled Fresh Air School. This print and the full portfolio were published as a fundraiser in conjunction with the exhibition, in an edition of approximately 1000. The prints are unnumbered, so the exact edition number is not known. This unframed lithograph is sold folded, as all the lithographs were folded as part of the portfolio, however the fold in the center typically frames out beautifully.
