Julian Simmons

Photographer, composer, printmaker and contemporary artist, Julian Simmons is perhaps best-known for his collaborative work with his partner Sarah Lucas. Involved in the creation of innovative artistic processes for over thirty years, Simmons has designed systems for radio-controlled aerial photography, and programmed a machine for electronic drawing. Lucas has said of Simmons work, “the thing about Julian is that he sees things in greater detail than anyone else I know.  Good for us that he's also on a mission to show us how he does see it. How to see. For me especially, as we're working so closely together.”His collaborations with Lucas over the years have been shown in London, Brussels, Auckland and Austria, and have resulted in a number of books including PENETRALIA (2008) and TITTIPUSSIDAD (2013.) His sound compositions, including those produced with his invented sound synthesis instruments, have resulted in two albums entitled NUMBERSTREAM and NUMBERSTREAM0.

His books, compositions and printed works have been shown in a number of exhibitions worldwide including Contemporary Fine Arts Galerie Gmbh, Berlin, Whitechapel Gallery, London, Gladstone Gallery, Brussels, and Paul Stolper, London.
