About The Work
Katherine Bradford, a lyrical abstractionist painter, has stated that she was influenced heavily by minimalism in the seventies and that a lot of her work relates to Jasper Johns. In this Collograph print, Bradford was inspired to create simple geometric elements—circles, grids, squares, and symbols, although she does not align herself with geometric art. She recognizes connections with primitive art and the use of language, and abstract expressionism's importance of gesture in the application of paint. Bradford’s work is contemplative, and represents a world of the spiritual and the senses.
