About The Work
American artist Katherine Bradford’s Person with Colors depicts a genderless figure whose torso and background are composed of vibrant, multicolored stripes. Bradford frequently incorporates swimmers and bodies of water into her work. While these bands of color suggest recognizable spaces—such as a pool or the ocean—they also function as abstract explorations of pigment, light, and form. Their anonymity lends them a universal, everyman quality. Rendered in luminous shades of pink, peach, orange, and neon green, the colors seem to radiate from within, casting a glow over their surroundings.
