    About The Work

In the past Keith Farquhar has appropriated from art history by reproducing famous abstract paintings–UV direct-printing a lo-res image of a Kenneth Noland onto plywood and a Christopher Wool onto corrugated metal. This work is part of his ongoing More Nudes in Colour series where he riffs on nudes from classical antiquity as well as abstract painting, combining and updating the two for the digital age. Creating what the artist calls “flat-pack statues,” Farquhar first paints directly on nude models in his studio, then photographs them and prints them onto a single side of life sized cardboard cutouts before displaying them on pedestal–convincingly in the round from the front yet honestly flat from the back.
