Ken Buhler

Artist Ken Buhler draws from the natural world in his work to create motifs that evoke growth and transformation. The "meandering line" consistent in his paintings and drawings recalls the contours of a map or the complexity of coral, while also remaining tied to the freedom of abstract expression. As the artist states, "My relationship to abstraction has been changing in recent years. Sources in the physical world have become more prominent in my process of painting and drawing." Buhler has starred in solo exhibitions at a range of museum and galleries and is also featured in prominent, permanent collections nationwide. He has been a professor at Bard College since 2000.
