Kyle Thurman

The multifaceted work of Kyle Thurman examines creative decision, constructive process and industrial production. Reclaiming the materials, forms and concepts of commercially produced artificiality, most notably, wind chimes, dyed flowers and cardboard shipping boxes, Thurman eliminates the function of each object and reconfigures its primary components. In one such project, the artist strips the dye from Deli-bought flowers and uses the pigment and bare petals to create stencil-like compositions on canvas.

Thurman has participated in a number of group exhibitions including Bodega, New York, Museum of Contemporary Art Tucson, Tucson, Printed Matter, New York, Laurel Gitlen, New York, and Fluxia, Milan, Italy, among others. He has had solo shows at Office Baroque, Brussels, Belgium, Room East, New York, and Off Vendome, Dusseldorf, Germany.
