Luisa Lambri

Luisa Lambri travels the world photographing architectural interiors—spending extended periods of time exploring the buildings before she begins to document them. Primarily photographing private homes from the inside looking outwards, Lambri's photographs bring a subjective viewpoint to the normally objective field of architectural photography. 

Lambri's carefully composed and thought-out works evoke art-historical traditions of minimalism and abstract painting, and therefore, her images often display Modernist ideals of framing, abstraction, and transcendence. To achieve these effects, Lambri has been known to employ new modes of digital printing as well as a discerning eye for cropping.

In addition to her inclusion in two Venice Biennales, Lambri has been the subject of solo exhibitions at institutions including the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Menil Collection in Houston, the Palazzo Re Rebaudengo in Guarene d'Alba, Italy, and the Hammer Museum of Art in Los Angeles. Selected group exhibitions include those staged at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, the Museum of Modern Art in Sao Paulo, the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens, and the New Museum in New York.
