Beat Nite 8 at Various Spaces, Brooklyn, 6–10 p.m.

This Friday marks the return of Norte Maar's bi-annual Bushwick gallery night and it's not to be missed. Curator Julian Jimarez-Howard has selected 10 art spaces around the neighborhood to participate, five of which have just opened in the past year (including his own Outlet Fine Art). If that isn't enough to get you out to Bushwick, the art walk will be followed by an after party at Bizarre, featuring a performance by PassKontrol. Find more details here .

Cynthia Carr and Lynne Tillman on "Fire in the Belly: The Life and Times of David Wojnarowicz" at SVA Theater , 333 West 23rd Street, 7 p.m.

Two lovely writers sit down to discuss Carr's recent memoir of activist artist David Wojnarowicz, which also serves as a fascinating history of a subculture during the AIDS crisis in New York City.
