This week the art world surged back to life after the long, slow summer, with gallery shows popping into view all throughout New York—promising more visual diversion than any one pair of eyes can possibly handle. But art lovers certainly tried, clogging the main arteries of Chelsea and the Lower East Side to push into shows by artists of all stripes, and even by one world-renowned poet. We swung by openings at Hauser & Wirth (which had an enormous show of new work by Matthew Day Jackson), Lehmann Maupin, Luhring Augustine, and other galleries, as well as parties for Jeff Koons and Pharrell.
