    About The Work

"Cadeau" or "The Gift" is one of the key works of the Dada and Surrealist movement. This iron loses its usefulness by having a row of 14 spikes attached to its surface, giving rise to a new and unnamed object. This is the main thought that Man Ray makes in his "ready mades" like the one presented here. With this "Cadeau", the artist gives a speech about how everyday objects can be strange and disturbing with only a slight alteration of their appearance, defying the laws of logic and breaking the connection between words and objects.
