Margarete Jakschik

Polish-born, Los Angeles based artist Margarete Jakschik is known for her photography that captures iconic and archetypal scenes of American life, in particular the glamorous nature of the LA landscape. Working with conceptual narratives that often include musical influence, Jakschik’s draws moody, delicate moments from both abstract and figurative subject matter. The influence of Thomas Ruff, her mentor of five years at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, is apparent in Jakschik’s careful and precise compositions.
