Marianna Olinger

Marianna Olinger is a Brazilian artist, whose work builds narratives and epistemic genealogies via images, actions, sound, text and objects. Her projects are often organized around concepts, alternating the media in relation to the inner communication, building an universe of sounds, lines, positive and negative spaces. Memory, identity and politics have been recurrent themes in her work, both autonomously and in collaboration with other artists.


Olinger has had solo shows both in New York and Rio de Janeiro, and participated in a number of group shows in Brazil and the United States. She studied arts both in Rio de Janeiro and New York, holds a PhD in Urban Planning, an MSc in Social Policies and a BA in Business. She has worked extensively as a researcher and activist. Most of her published texts are in the fields of gender, politics and activism.
