Each of Marie-Hélène Stokkink’s watercolours captures the very essence of an animal’s soul. Everything is delicately put in place to express her great love of animals, from the most humble to the most powerful. With her finesse and deep feeling of empathy, she captures a look or an attitude, persuading you to look differently at a little mouse or an owl. She can make animals speak—a pig shows you his discontent, a sheep her distress, a little chick winks, and the common chicken can look like a friendly next door neighbour.
