Matthias Hoch

The work of German photographer Matthias Hoch derives inspiration from the physical and conceptual notion of structure. Often seen as a comment on the dehumanizing nature of cities, his monumental photographs capture the symmetry, sequence, and elemental architecture of human civilization. While the images are taken in a variety of cites all across Europe, Hoch strives to rid his compositions of any discernable context, instead melding his subjects into a shared “architectural vocabulary.”
