Meris Angioletti
In her work, Meris Angioletti investigates the relationship between mental mechanisms and linguistic forms, revelation and concealment, and film space as a ritual space. Her work (video, performance, photographs, collage, tapestry), has always dwelt in the indistinct space between art and science, a space where it is difficult to distinguish creative process from scientific method. Le mont analogue. File cards composition (2017) encapsulates this confluence of approaches: using a mix of text and projection, the piece is somewhere between science class slideshow and micro-cinema. Others, such as L'anello e il libro: scena (2017), offer fun visual rifts: here, tessalating mirrors are made to resemble water, with a white conch shell perched on top.
Angioletti was born in Bergamo in 1977; she currently lives and works in Paris. Since studying at the Brera Academy and CFP Bauer in Milan, Angioletti has participated residencies at Pavillon-Palais de Tokyo and ISCP (International Studio and Curatorial Program) of New York. Among her recent solo shows are L’anneau et le livre at ENSAPC YGREC in Paris, Adagio (with Flora Moscovici) at LaBF15 espace d’art contemporain in Lyons, and Danza macabra at BACO in Bergamo.
