Miguel Arzabe is a first-generation American, born to Bolivian parents in St. Louis, MO. His work evinces a playful struggle for agency within systems of unseen forces. He works across media that includes painting, video, and paper weaving. His process is nonlinear, expansive, and open to chance. He looks to multiple sources for inspiration: art history, technology, nature, games and indigenous culture.

Arzabe’s work has been featured in festivals including Hors Pistes (Centre Pompidou, Paris) and the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma (Montreal) as well as in museums and galleries including: RM Projects (Auckland), FIFI Projects (Mexico City), Marylhurst University (Oregon), Center for Contemporary Art (Santa Fe), Berkeley Art Museum, Albuquerque Museum of Art, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Arzabe holds a BS from Carnegie Mellon University, an MS from Arizona State University and an MFA from UC Berkeley.
