About The Work

Employing blocks of color and purposeful strokes, Natasha Law’s figurative works capture moments that are unspecific to time. Taking from private scenes within the home and domestic space, Law intrigues with a level of voyeurism. Stood in Grey on Pink furthers her experimentation with striking silhouettes and negative space. As seen very often throughout her oeuvre, Law avoids overstating her areas, but rather than nudity protracting our attention, she crops her figures to emphasize the less obvious details. Set against the stark negativity of her saturated tableaus, Law allows her forms to realize themselves by virtue of tousled locks and slouched shoulders, which themselves offer valuable insight into the psyche of her protagonists.
