About The Work
Contemporary Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist has received international acclaim for her video installations, photographs, and sculptural works since the 1980’s. Her practice combines highly technical procedures with fluid, sensual imagery, often taken from nature. Creating an immersive visual experience, Rist conceives worlds of kaleidoscopic color, often incorporating music and text into her conceptually diverse pieces. In this c-print and Plexiglas piece, Rist juxtaposes two images with similar pastel color palettes—the silhouette of a young woman and magnolia flowers.
