Placido Scandurra

Placido Scandurra lives and works in San Polo dei Cavalieri, around Rome. He trained in Catania, particularly attending the studio of the painter Antonio Villani and the restorer Giovanni Nicolosi. From 1975 to 1977 he attended experimental courses at the National Chalcography of Rome. In the mid-1970s he underwent a profound change towards an introspective vision. From the intense study of Jung's theories and Eastern cultures, the artist has a strong interest in the esoteric spiritual world that leads him to create works of art of an alchemical and surreal kind. The production of "archetypes" and "primordial and totemic forms" begins, a tendency that is supported and inspired by two journeys to India and Egypt in 1983 and 1985.
