Rebecca Chamberlain has worked widely across disciplines, from painting and performance to fashion design. Her paintings and drawings consider the boundaries of public and private spaces and the psychological and physical impact of architecture. Using materials such as lithography ink, ballpoint pen, and rubbing alcohol in unusual ways, Chamberlain’s paintings of works of Modernist architecture are spare, but seductive. Chamberlain’s carefully crafted artworks call attention to the elements of design and its effect on the way we experience spaces.

Chamberlain’s work has been included in exhibitions at the Hirschhorn Museum and the Museum of Modern Art. She has also participated in gallery shows at Dodge Gallery, 303 Gallery, and Knoedler Project Space in New York, The Judi Rotenberg Gallery in Boston, and Champion Fine Art in Los Angeles, among other venues. Chamberlain is the recipient of a Joan Mitchell Foundation grant, and a New York Foundation for the Arts painting fellowship. Chamberlain also completed a residency at the Willem Arntsz Hoeve in the Netherlands.
