Renee So

Fascinated with the accouterments of male fashion, Renee So weaves and sculpts characters of indeterminate masculinity, adorned in Victorian-era pantaloons, canes, pipes, and So's version of the architectural Assyrian beard. While her tapestries and ceramics are evocative of tradition, So's approach is entirely contemporary. Her mastery of both craft and art history are seamlessly integrated in her works, along with a playful sense of humor and knack for form and color.

So has been featured in numerous publications, including ArtForum, The Guardian, and Frieze. Her works have been exhibited internationally, from New York to Australia, Hong Kong, and all throughout Europe.
