"Due to my concern for the oppression of women’s rights in this present political climate, my thoughts, and work are focused on this subject. The truth is that sexism still exists and poverty, violence, and inequality remain the plight of women. Therefore, in order to call attention to this situation, I have painted representational portraits of oppressed women and have incorporated painted symbols such as blinded eyes, a raised hand, and silenced mouths."
Rita Guile is a fine art painter and lives in the Kansas City Metro area. She grew up in Moline, Illinois and moved to Kansas in 1975. After graduating from an intense two-year program in graphic design, Rita was chosen as the intern for Hallmark's Sales Promotion. Later she became a Hallmark product designer, achieving the level of Senior Designer. She enjoyed many opportunities at Hallmark, such as trips to New York City, New England, London, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Mainland China. Rita has always been a colorist and shared her expertise with other designers by conducting classes and workshops. In 2012, Rita left the creative corporate world in order to devote her time to painting. She has exhibited her work in galleries and in numerous juried exhibitions around the country and in the UK. Her paintings are in corporate and private collections in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Portland, Oregon; Kansas City, Missouri; plus Rhode Island, New York, and the UK.
