About The Work

As seen in The New York Times, September 21, 2013. Appropriated from a famous painting made by Charles Demuth, Robert Indiana’s 1980 serigraph set, American Dream Suite 5 (The Golden Five), identifies four pillars of the American dream, both recognized and not. He includes love (using the word “HUG”), satiety (“EAT”), accident (“ERR”), and finality (“DIE”), all parts of the promise and realities of American life.
