    About The Work

Robert Indiana’s “LOVE” began as a simple Christmas card design for friends and has slowly become one of the most recognizable images in the art world. His technique is bold and visually stimulating, elevating simple text and colloquialisms in order to merge the personal and the public, the visual and the verbal.

A miniature version of the sculpture that sits on the grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indiana, this brushed aluminum paperweight commemorates the artist most iconic design. It is from an open edition that was dis-continued in 2013. This is version from pre-2009 (versions from 2009 are exactly the same but typically come in an IMA branded box and are stamped on the underside). These are now very rare, with the red version being the most sought after.
