About The Work
Robert Longo was first recognized for his hyperrealistic charcoal illustrations during the 1980s, and today the artist continues to explore the potential of his crisp, breath-taking style, particularly through imagery of powerful figures, events, and scenery. The virtuosity of this hand is evident in all of Longo's compositions; oftentimes, his drawings are almost impossible to distinguish from his photographic works. In this print, Longo uses his characteristic chiaroscuro to underscore the mystical atmosphere of nature—light and fog starkly contrasting dark towering trees.
