Sally Mara Sturman

Artist Sally Mara Sturman has said that she is her happiest self "when it’s sunny, I’m painting, and music is blasting in some remote amazing place with no one looking over my shoulder." That sense of simple sensorial pleasure and joie de vivre is evident in her vibrant and nuanced intimacy with color. Never leaving home without her paints, Sturman's paintings and watercolor illustrations serve as delightfully romantic, expressionistic travelogues of her times spent in France, New York, California, and the places between.

Her work has been shown widely across the United States as well as in Europe, and is collected by numerous corporations, institutions, and private collections. She has illustrated for an innumerable number of clients, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Condé Nast Traveler, Self Magazine, Random House, and Country Living Gardener to name just a few. She currently lives and works in New York.
