Seton Smith

Seton Smith creates large-scale photographs that transform the almost familiar into the barely abstract. These photographs, often of a single object, are intentionally out of focus, creating space for the viewer to interact with the image on a psychosocial level. Fascinated by interior design, architectural nuances, and the natural world, Smith’s work invites a multiplicity of interpretations and personal connections.

Seton Smith is represented by Winston Wachter Gallery in New York and Seattle, by Barbara Krakow Gallery in Boston, by Timothy Eaton in Palm Beach, and by Gaain Gallery in Seoul, South Korea. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the International Center of Photography, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Centre Georges Pompidou, among others.
