Tala Madani

The multidisciplinary work of Tala Madani is heavily influenced by her home country of Iran. Small and often crude, Madani’s richly exuberant paintings are witty fusions of the political and the personal that evoke, in their mixing of formal and narrative styles, Abstract Expressionism, political cartooning, and Persian miniatures.

Recent solo exhibitions of her work include Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo, Seville, Pilar Corrias, London, Nottingham Contemporary, Nottingham, Moderna Museet Malmö & Stockholm, and Stedelijk Museum Bureau, Amsterdam. Group exhibitions include the 2014 Taipei, Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, 5th Marrakech Biennale, Marrakech, 2013 Göteborg Biennial, Göteborg, Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, Bristol, Museum De Hallen, Amsterdam, Danish Pavilion at the 54th International Art Exhibition, La Biennale di Venice (2011), The Great New York, P.S. 1 MoMA, New York and Younger than Jesus, New Museum, New York (2009).
