Taney Roniger

Cellular Automata (CA) is given new life in the artworks by Taney Roniger. Taking inspiration from computer generated replication models, she dissects these complex patterns and transforms them into works of art that, though repetitive, are not monotonous. Working with multitudes of identical units, Roniger creates patterns that appear to live, breathe, and even dance across canvases. The result: subtle and aesthetically pleasing compositions.

She has been awarded the Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant, the Yale Teaching Fellowship, and several Yaddo residencies. Solo shows include StandPipe Gallery, NY, The Front, New Orleans, and Slate Gallery, Brooklyn. MASS MoCA, Pera Museum, Istanbul, Turkey, Apex Art, NY, Bellweather, Brooklyn, and Bluentenweiss, Berlin, and the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans.
