Vasa Velizar Mihich

Vasa Mihich is a Yugoslavian-born artist living and working in Los Angeles. He taught for many years as a senior professor of Design at UCLA. When he was in his early 20s, Mihich became interested in American art and traveled to the United States, where he soon became a citizen. He began working with transparent and colored plastics in the late '60s while living in Los Angeles, and has since aquired the machinery and technology necessary to create his signature minimalist acrylic sculptures, which reflect and refract light. 

Mihich's work has appeared in museums internationally, and is featured in private collections at the Honolulu Museum of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, the San Diego Museum of Art, Wilhelm Lehmbrech Museum, the Denver Art Museum, and the Hammer Museum. His work has also been exhibited at the Feigen-Palmer Gallery in Los Angeles, and appeared in the major show "American Sculptures of the Sixties" at the LACMA.
