Victoria Fu

Victoria Fu is an artist working with video and photography, addressing mutating artistic conventions in the wake of the digital age. Her practice revolves around stock footage and digital image banks, pulling quotidian pictures to appropriate them for projections on multi-layered surfaces. Her collages of digital media are abstract fantasies that emphasize form over representation. Fu’s works negates the manipulative power of these mundane images, injecting them with alluring imagination that challenges their function.

Fu has exhibited at institutions including The Kitchen, New York, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, California, DC Art Center, Washington, D.C., Chinati Foundation, Marfa, Texas, Hirschhorn Museum & Sculpture Garden, Washington, D.C., Anthology Film Archives, New York, and Museo de la Ciudad, Quito, among many others. She participated in the 2014 Whitney Biennial and The Moving Image Art Fair in 2014. Fu has also received numerous grants, including a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship and an Irvine Fellowship in 2015. She is the co-founder of ART OFFICE for Film and Video and has curated exhibitions there since 2006.
