    About The Work

Violeta Caldrés lives and is inspired between two worlds and two cultures as different as they are alike, Morocco and Spain. Her work is based on her own experiences as a woman in a changing society in which gender matters (too much), mixing drawing and collage with mixed techniques, from video to embroidery in a delicate and overwhelming way at the same time. She uses a very defined color palette of reds, whites and blacks among other secondary colors to create a wide variety of contrasts that clash with human intimacy. It creates different universes in which female psychology comes into constant contact with the masculine, they touch and separate to form episodes that give rise to a contemporary and subtle work full of symbolisms that constantly question gender roles.
