Gino Guida

Gino Guida moved to Rome with his family as a child, where he completed classical studies and graduated from art school. In 1960, he co-founded the Roman figurative group Libertà-Realtà with Marcello Confetti, Paolo Ganna, Piero Guccione, Carlo Quattrucci, Pino Reggiani, Aldo Turchiaro, and Pasquale Verrusio, opposing the dominant informal style. Their only exhibition was held in January 1961 at the Stagni Gallery in Rome, with critic Antonio Del Guercio supporting the group.

Guida's first solo exhibition took place in 1965 at Galleria Il Girasole, featuring works marked by a new, expressive, and metaphysical light. Vespignani, who introduced the catalog and became a close friend, praised his unique use of abstract, timeless light filled with mystery and wonder. He held over 60 solo exhibitions and took part in major art events in Italy and abroad.
